Recently there have been two gun related bills filed in the State Senate, both are by Republicans, one is good and one is bad.

First the bad news:

Senator Paul Hornback has sponsored SB 229 which is a Red Flag Gun Legislation. Essentially what this type of legislation would do is create a process for taking guns away from people deemed mentally unsound. We are not going to reinvent the wheel on explaining this issue, as this concept came up last year as well, so you can review that information by clicking HERE. Its easy to see this type of law could get out of hand real quick being used as a mechanism to take guns from people for politically motivated reasons.

Call 1-800-372-8100 and tell your Senator and all Senate Leadership you oppose SB 229. Also call Senator Hornback and tell him to withdraw SB 229

Now for the good news:

Senator Southworth has sponsored SB 254, which is a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Legislation. In short this legislation would allow for local or state law enforcement from enforcing Federal Gun Laws or being required to by the Federal Government. Right now this is important because Red Flag gun laws are being introduced in Washington D.C. and there may even be a few Republicans willing to help the Democrats out in this endeavor.

Call 1-800-372-7181 and tell your Senator and all Senate Leadership you support SB 254. Also call Senator Southworth and tell her you support her efforts with SB 254
